Out and about…
29th JanuaryLocation: Wan Chai, Hong KongWeather: 26°C, Night.
What was supposed to be “a bit of kip” ended up being almost seven hours of deep sleep, only briefly interrupted by a maid who didn’t understand that “do not disturb” means exactly that.
We ventured out at about 7pm in need of food, only to find the place that we planned on going to no longer existed (a persistent problem with printed guidebooks). We had a bit more of a wander and found a bustling restaurant in a nearby Novatel called Eli Towers Southern China Provinces Food.
The food here was excellent, and I managed not to show myself up for a change by wielding my chopsticks like a pro. Mental note to oneself though; don’t order something because it sounds vaguely familiar if you don’t know what it is. Hakka Sauteed Pork Belly sounds really tasty, but you’re screwed if you don’t actually like fish… luckily Emma’s sweet and sour spare ribs were plentiful enough for both of us.
We did a little more wandering after dinner, and ended up watching the New Years parade down the Conference and Exhibition Centre.
